Well I just happened a couple of days ago to buy a "few" jugs of oil for my next couple of oil changes.
Probably has something to do with fond memories of gas lines, and /or only being able to buy gas every other day based on whether your license plate was an even or odd number. Fun times.
You can't easily store gas, but oil is a different matter, and having some on hand seems prudent, all things considered.

Oil isn't so much of an issue, but the fuel prices... 2x Oil fill is ~the same as one fuel fill up. I switched to my Kia for the time being, that shitbox uses half the fuel.
But yeah, always wise to have some stock at home (I also do that), but keep in mind, in theory the shelf life is about 5 years. Not sure if it matters really.
