Cooling Fan Smoking Really Bad!! Would you help me out?????

I need the Volvo experts again!! I was driving yesterday and smelled something burning. I then saw white smoke (not steam) coming from under the hood of my car. Pulled over to check and, when I lifted the hood, you would have thought the engine was on fire After about 10 minutes the smoke died down and it looked like it was coming right out of the back of the radiator cooling fan (engine side not grille side). I started the car a few times then shut it off but the fan never engaged at all. Could this be the fan, the motor, the relay? I have no idea!! I've been searching this site but can't seem to find any posts related to my exact problem. If anyone has any idea what the problem is, I'd appreciate your expert opinion and advice!!! Thanks for your time and knowledge!!!

The blower and the fan blades comes as an assembly and you will need to change it out. You aren't the first person that this has happened to:

I would not drive the car until it is fixed.

Thanks, Ozark!! You're reply is GREATLY appreciated!! Thank God we didn't drive the car today. We'll have to order a new cooling fan. I'll try Ebay and then FCP Groton. If you know anyplace where the prices are lower, let me know. THANKS, again!!!!!!!!
