Well I thought my fill and flush helped but maybe not!
Once I drove the car for about 20 miles today and got it good and hot- the trans started acting up. I can best describe it as a Flare up between shifts esp 1-2 and 2-3. It revs up like there is no load on it but if you feed it gas slow it is driveable.
Throws a code 232 every time. That is for missing speedo signal. Its not missing the signal as far as I can tell.
It drives fine when its cold.
If you put it in winter mode, start out in L and shift it up to D manually when you get up to speed it doesnt do it.
Doesnt Slip starting out in winter mode either!
Any ideas???
Any trans gurus here? Need HELLP!

Cam position sensor (also known as the speed sensor on your car) is probably going bad.

Would the cam sensor effect the transmission shifting?
Did you flush it all at once? Drain & fill 3x at one sitting? Over on volvoforums.com in your thread I cautioned against that...I have heard it is not good to just change all the fluid on a car with extremely old and burnt fluid. I did 1 drain refill, drove 300 miles, another drain refill and added lucas and have driven around 3000 miles since with improved results. I plan to do another drain/refill maybe when I hit 5,000 miles on the current fluid, but after reading your failure I might wait till 10k or 15k.
If all else fails...

Yah- I did do it 3 times- I figured since it was already doing this it couldnt hurt. It didnt get any worse (or better for that matter)
I did add a bottle of Lucas also.
The strange thing is it doesnt do it ALL the time!
I mean on a trans bad is bad- its not gonna be fine then bad, then fine then bad bad then fine fine etc...
Makes me think it is an electrical gremlin- It does keep throwing a speed sensor code. Not sure if that could be an issue.
Where can I get a speed sensor? Would it be worth trying??

Oh OK so it was doing this before the flush? Nevermind then...
I think this is the cam sensor

I found it on ebay too, around $150 shipped from the UK, not sure how much a dealer would want for an OEM (BOSCH?) part. FCP probably has them but get the part # from your dealer and then call, every time I ask them for a non-listed part they get upset and want the Volvo part #. I guess they are pretty busy and don't really have time to look them up.
Really easy to install I think, I took it off to change my leaky camshaft seal.

Not real common but we're seeing them more and more on these cars after 10-12 years. It could just be some oil leaking onto it from the cam seal or the connector (weather could have an effect if this is it) so just check it out before buying a new one. It is easy to get off...just in a bit of a difficult location depending on if your model is turbo or not.

Mine is a non turbo so hopefully not too bad.
You have seen this happen to others- that is so strange!
Its such a strange thing- it makes the 1-2 shift fine then a second later the engine runs away from the trans (if that makes sense) let your foot out of it and slowly accelerate and it seems to be ok.
Weird!
PS- I was just looking thru my paperwork and when I first got it it had a check engine light on. Pulled the code- Guess what? 314 cam sensor! It hasnt returned, but it does make me wonder! I cleared the code-thinking it was just from sitting so long and having a dead battery when I jumped it. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
PPS- wouldnt a bad cam sensor give a no start as well as the shift issue?
