01 s40 keyless remote problem

HI. I have a problem. My keyless remote is cracked and is not working good now. I just called the dealer and it will be $350 or so buy and program a new one. I am looking for other options. Can I have this one just fixed? If so, where? I was gonna buy one on ebay until I saw they said check it out first cuz you may need to have it programmed and there's no guarantee.It is getting harder daily to get into my car ,sometimes it works other times I have to put the key in the door and it sets off the alarm.how embarassing! what should I do? thanks ahead of time.

You say it's cracked....does it otherwise work? If so, just change the guts out with a case from eBay...should work without programming.
