Horn don't honk!

2001 S-40...horn does not honk if you press the lower portion of the pad. The upper right and left work, but not the bottom. Anyone have the 'how to remove and repair' pages of the manual? OR...could you just tell me how to do it? I have worked on my 850 and 740, so I have been inside before, just not sure of the details on this one.

This is the VADIS instruction for getting into the steering wheel.

Disconnect the battery negative lead, having the radio code. Do no start work for at least 5 minutes after disconnection.

To remove the "Steering column panels" - remove 3 screws from the lower panel, lower the steering column to its lowest point and remove the upper panel.

When I disconnet the neg battery cable, will I have to go to the dealer to erase codes?

Which codes have been set? I can't find any associated with the horn not working.

I don't show a code yet, but the last time I lost power, the airbag warning came on and I had to pay $60 to have it reset.

I don't know how that happened but the correct procedure for disconnecting the negative cable is:

Turn ignition key to position 0 and disconnect the cable.

To reconnect the negative cable:

Turn ignition key to position 11 and reconnect the cable.

The reconnect part often catches people out.
