the diagonal metal strap is something we dont have in the european volvo models.I guess its only available in U.S market models. my car is a european version and has no metal strap on it.

note: the ecu's need no reprogramming after removal.. the only matter is you have to switch the ignition off and wait least 10 mins until all the power to the control modules are cut. and then remove the modules from the box.otherwise damage to the ecu modules is possible.

Please. There must be somebody out there that can help me. I've already broken part of the support for the windshield fluid fill tube. Now in trying to force the metal strap off, I can see it slight crack just starting at the bottom of the box by the strap. I could really use someone insight and knowledge on how they opened their's. :o

No you don't.
I have swapped ECU's and it's an in and out deal even with the battery connected, no issues

yeah i have a can, i wonder if the ECU is to blame for my issues, since replacing the starter I can turn the engine over but it never will start. Checked for spark and am not getting any. Changed plugs ,wires, cap, rotor and still no spark. I got a TPS code so I replaced that, replaced camshaft position switch, and ignition coil and still no spark HELP !!
