Headlight wiper rest position wrong

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Headlight wiper rest position wrong

Post by geordiehussar »

S80 2.4SE 2001
Hi All, My problem is that the N/S headlight wiper arm doesnt always return to the correct position sometimes its stuck up vertical across the lens glass pointing skyward. It will then at some later stage just return by itself to the correct rest position.
At present I've removed the fuse from the dash, but this stops the H/L leveling electric motors stop working and as I tow I like to turn these down so as not to dassel oncoming drivers.
I've spoken to my normal volvo specilist and he's said £150-£170 to fick it Im hope you guys might know what the problem is and how to sort it cheaply if possible.
Thanks everyone and just like to say this is a brilliant forum group.
:P

Mine does the same thing.... (looks like its raising an eye brow)

I'm going to remove the motor and see if its sealed or not.... I would imagine that it will be some kind of position switch thats tarnished or loose. I'll update the post and try to take some pictures while I fix it to help you. :D
