I'm sure the rest of the gents on this forum will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe all Volvo 5-cyl engines have hydraulic lifters and therefore do not require valve adjustment. Your tick is likely lifter tick caused by either low oil pressure or worn lifters. Does it go away if you rev the engine above 1300 rpm?
