Brake Light Replace

Post by thiggy »

I have a 2001 V70 XC wagon. My passenger side upper brake light assembly is damaged where the light snaps into the lens assembly (from excess heat, I think). I will need to replace the lens assembly, but I don’t see how to remove the old one. Does anyone have specific instructions? A diagram would be helpful also. Does it mount with screws, or clips which allow the light to snap off? The only access to the back side appears to be by removing the rear speaker, but even after doing that I cannot see very much. Thanks for any suggestions.

You might find one cheaper on eBay than an on-line place. Shop around. I hope the following helps you:

If you need links to the other operations that you have to go through frist, let me know (loud speaker grille, etc.)

Thanks for the helpful PDF, Madein. Is this document available to the average Joe, or is it from a subscription site? I am uncertain about the removal of the side panel cover, cargo compartment side panel and the cantrail panel.

These diagrams are from VADIS...a 2 DVD set you can buy from eBay. Here are some of the other parts to your process (you might not need all of them) that might be helpful to you:

Volvo workers, I am new.. Do I have to remove the lens (nice pdfs) to change my brake light bulb? I've opened the speaker, no real access. Looks complicated with a risk of breaking lens fasteners.
advice?

No...one of the pdf files should have the process. Reach in, twist the cover and pullout... no outer lens is ever touched.
