Volvo 850 Transmission problem

Hi to all volvo owners
I have a volvo 850 turbo wagon (with pegasus rims and 2004 S60 T5 seats) i like my car. I was stuck in the snow in OC NY. I had tried to get out the driveway. After forward reversing multiple times (while tracs option was on and off) i gave up and looked for a truck to pull me out. The car drove for about a mile before the transmission started slipping. I turned the car off for ten min and back on and the car would drive fine for another ten min. Fluid is fine and dosent smell burnt. I tried switching computer boxes. still no go. I was looking for any advice and if a Volvo 70 Series '98-00 A.T.; FWD, w/turbo, 2.4L transmission will fit MY 95 850 turbo. Thank you for any advice.

Could be an opportunity to go manual transmission if you want.
What you want for the auto box is the Aisin Warner (AW) AW50-42 transmission. All of the 850's had this transmission and with a few exceptions, all of the S/C/V70 first generation (up through '00) Volvo's also have the same transmission, so yes, it will fit. If you decide on a manual transmission, you'll need to look at an M56 or M58. Good luck and let us know how things go.

People with more knowledge than me will hopefully comment, but I suspect your current transmission is toast. Maybe they will disagree and know something that I don't know.

'ROW" the shifter back and forth several times (20 or so) engine on (foot on brake)
If your PNP switch is sticking this should temporarily clear it up.
If that works, you will need to replace the PNP switch, that is only a temp. fix.

MIJ, where did he say anywhere that he wanted to go to a manual?

Hey, if I were going to have to swap out a transmission, I would certainly consider it for my car.
