That's exactly what I'm saying ... Volvo dealerships, you've got to love them. Car sales go down, service prices go up. Think I'll sign up for Volvo repairs 101.

Holy crap I think I paid $10 for my plugs from NAPA.

However, to be fair, my guess is they also had to go through the motions of diagnosing the problem. At my dealer that's $95.

ronanfeely, How much coolant are you losing? You say you have to top it off, does it lose so much the light comes on? Mine has dropped about 3-4 mm over the past 2000 miles or so, it might be a crack but I can't find ANY evidence of leakage, or coolant in the oil, etc. It's driving me nuts.

Yeah, you gotta pay for diagnosis... or get it off the internet. Unfortunately it's often wrong in both cases. You'd think a dealer could easily diagnose these things, but I hear so many horror stories.. seems like they just throw parts at em like we do sometimes. It's just that they like to do the most expensive option first. Better for profits.

Ronanfeely actually got off really cheap if they actually fixed it.

Their new VITA system is pretty accurate. I had an S80 and they did $2000 worth of recall repairs without laying so much as a wrench to the car. All computer software updates. Welcome to the future Mr. Jetson.

On your coolant leak...mine is going through it too...found a crack at the bottm of the reservoir. So small it doesn't leak when cold, but as soon as pressure builds in the tank it opens up and I have to top off once a week. As soon as I can let the car sit for 24 hous I'm plugging it with JB weld.

Hi Matt, years later eh? It turned out that the coolant reservoir was corroded to the point of bursting ... and I replaced it myself ... ya ... if yours finally goes, you'll know it. Coolant everywhere.
