sea foam treatment

Post by zacharyt »

01 v70 T5 w/115K miles

If I wanted to run Sea Foam through the engine, what is the best vacuum line to use on this type Volvo. I have not spent a whole lot of time under the hood of this car and hope you all can save me some time.

Thanks

Because your Volvo doesn't have a vacuum tree like the earlier models, I would use the brake booster vacuum line that feeds directly into the intake manifold. Take it loose and suck in 1/3 of a can of seafoam after the engine has warmed up, cut the engine, reattach the hose and start the car after it sits for 15-20 minutes:

Same question on the Seafoam, but I have a '99 V70, non-turbo. Where am I sucking in the 1/3 can? If you have a pic similar to the one on this thread for zacharyt. Thanks.

I can't find a diagram for yours...but any of the hoses that lead to the intake manifold will work. I'm thinking you might also have the same brake booster hose as the later models- either through there, or if yours doesn't have a a vacuum tree, there is a hose that runs to the intake manifold from the front, driver's side of the fan shroud- from the Evap shut off valve that will work. Main thing is you want a line that when the engine is at idle it "sucks" in air. Just make sure and test it before you try in ingest Seafoam- put your finger over the hose and make sure it's not blowing out, but instead, sucking in.
