s40 2001 Comp. Dead?

Post by kojack1072 »

Hi guys, I'm appealing to you again, I changed my plugs and wires and they were working fabulously for about fifty miles. Today when I went to start my car nothing happened, not even a crank except a trouble code #602 if you can help once again I will greatly appreciate it, thanks. :(

Are you saying P0602 (Control Module- permanent fault)?
If so, you might just have a dead battery, not allowing any connection to your computer or something else...try pulling your computer (if your battery is good) and reseating it- make sure your key is out of the ignition. Otherwise, bad battery terminal wires or corrosion. It is actually very rare that the ECU up and becomes a ghost.

I tried that but, it didnt work. Then I had the car towed to my local Volvo dealer, but the service guy said that I had to get a new computer which cost $1,035.00, then he would test my system @ $120.00 an hour. He further said there would be no guarentee on the work that was being done. A friend of mine said to check the cam solenoid adjuster to see if that was defective. Can you help me to find a way to test it. I really need some help in fixing this vehicle cheaply, cause I've only had it for two months and I've yet had the chance to enjoy it without putting money into it. Thank you in advance for what ever help you can offer.

I don't know of a Cam solenoid adjuster...but maybe a cam position sensor? (also known as the impulse sensor) http://www.eeuroparts.com/Main/PartDeta ... id=1270603 If this is bad, your car won't start. Because it doesn't start, also, your car won't read the code for it. It is on the front side of the engine close to the firewall (on your model S40):
