I am hoping someone can help me with this. The rear drivers side door on my 03 V70 no longer locks and unlocks with either the remote or door buttons.
I have already replaced the actuator unit within the door. I think the problem might be in the rear fuse panel. The vehicle was hit in the rear but upon looking at the rear panel, there is no evidence of anything looking disturbed. I believe all repairs to the body were made from the outside.
When the rear door is closed, you can hear the customary "clicking" of the central lock system.
Not sure how to troubleshoot an item like this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Will the car lock if you use the key from the outside at the driver's door? If so, try locking and unlocking it with your key twice or maybe even 3 times and see if this restores things.

I have the same exact problem on an 04 model V70. Everything works, front doors, fuel filler, trunk latch etc, just not the rear door locks. It doesn't matter whether I attempt to use the remote or the buttons on the driver door. I have a post on here (I think) from a few weeks ago, where a guy with an 03 referenced a couple of relays that are in the rear fuse panel as the possible culprit.
My car did not have the relays that the guy referred to, I don't have a wiring diagram, so I'm not sure whether there is a difference in the 03 & 04 panel configuration or whether someone has removed the mentioned relays. (The previous owner of mine did some odd things) If you would be interested my email is: [email protected], email me a pic of your rear fuse panel and i'll return the same. I'd like to see if your car looks similar and if in fact I am missing something, maybe my pic could help you.
I haven't replaced the actuators on my doors and the only thing I notice when trying to lock the doors is a clicking sound coming from the rear fuse panel. Anyhow, good luck

MIJ- I have tried every combination of unlocking and locking. I am going to check the rear relays that were numbered in a different post. Forgot to mention, all other doors work fine, fuel door, rear hatch as well.
The central lock system knows the "state" of that door because if it is locked, I cannot unlock the other doors because they can't get in sync. I wish Volvo would add an unlock And a lock button. My '02 S60 had the same type switch. From what I see at the dealer, they are still coming through this way.
Otis44- I will try to get a photo this evening. BTW, I had bought the actuator from ebay, so just to be sure it was working, I plugged it into the pax rear door and it worked.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram or schematics on the rear fuse panel? There was on listed on another post, but it was for an '01 I think.
My '03 non turbo has a relay in the 113 spot. I removed this relay and the hatch and pax rear door still worked. The other post mentioned spots 112/114. My particular vehicle doesn't have any relays in these spots.
I am trying to find out which relay controls the rear drivers side door.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The door lock issue has been resolved. A special thanks to otis44. He was able to figure out two relays were missing from the REM. I thought I would post the info just in case someone needs it down the road.
The area indicated by the red square is the area where the two relays were missing. They control the rear drivers side door. The yellow square area on the opposite side controls the rear pax side.
The relays were Napa part# ECH AR634, about $11 a piece.
This might be a good way to troubleshoot a rear door lock issue without changing the actuator.

Strange... My car ('02 S60) has only got one relay on each side on the bottom. Perhaps you should have had one on the left and one on the right instead of two on the left???

Nope, it's correct, your car only has 3 unlocking relays (positions RMI2, RMI21 and RMI23)--see page 19 of the wiring diagram. 2002 V70s had 4, and 2003s had 5 unlocking relays.StarmanDXE wrote:Strange... Thanks!
But, still kind of odd that they would do such a thing...
