I have disconnected the running lights as below by removing the yellow wire, and immediately the electric aerial packed up!
Reconnected the running lights but the aerial still did not work.
Is this just an unlucky coincidence or could there be a reason.
Please can anybody tell me how to stop the headlights on my 1995 1.8 Volvo 440 made for the UK market being constantly on!
I had an American vehicle once that did the same thing and all that was necessary was to remove a fuse but this system must be different.
Can anybody help please?

This is part of the day running lights set-up.
If you want to switch off the day running lights completely, i.e. side, rear and dim-dip lights remove the light switch and pull the yellow cable with the spade connector on out of the centre connection.
If you want to keep the side and rear lights on as day running lights but switch off the dim-dip headlights remove the "Dim Dip Relay" on the driver's side slam panel.

Are running lights and electric aerial connected ?

They are not connected so you may have pulled another wire whist disconnecting the yellow one.
The aerial motor is covered by fuse 22 which also has interior lamps, clock and cigarette lighter among others on it. If they are working it can't be the fuse.
You should be able to check if you have 12 volts at the aerial motor. Also check/clean the earth at the motor. If they are OK the motor is faulty.

Unfortunate about the aerial but car and coincidence seem to go hand in hand.
