oder during high speeds

I just bought a 2004 XC90 T-6 and I have noticed during highway driving with my sunroof open an oder fills the cabin. I believe it's coming in thru the sun roof. Any ideas? The car passed inspection in Feb. and runs perfect. I kinda suspect the catalytic converter, but why would the oder come thru the sunroof while on the highway. Do not smell the oder any other time.

I guess we need to know what type of odor you're talking about...exhaust I assume, but your original post leaves us guessing.

That's the issue, I don't know what the oder is. It doesn't smell like exhaust, if it was the cat I thought they smelled like rotten eggs. besides, if it was coming from the exhaust how would it come in from the sun roof? So I have to assume that it's coming from the engin compartment.

Well, it could be your cat- why it comes through the sunroof is a mystery- seems it would just drift under the car and out the rear- That said, how is your car running? If it was your cat, you'd know from bad driveability conditions.

Maybe the previous owner had his car egged and some dripped into the sunroof area and became rank?

We know that the previous owner lived in the most rural area of the state. We believe that they lived on a dirt road because when we brought it for a front end alignment, Firestone told us that the undercarriage is caked with mud. They had to clean the wheels before they could take of the tires to balance them.
