I was wondering if anyone knew where the level sensor is located. I was thinking about lowering. Can I adjust the rear and change the front springs? I am only considering 20-30mm. The lowering kits I see are only offered for xc90s without the automatic leveling system.
Thanks,
Mike

I believe your car has to tip 45 degrees before the shut-off valve stops gas from leaving your gas tank (a safety measure if you're even in an accident w/ roll-over. Therefore, lowering your car should not have any impact on your level sensor.

Thanks for your reply MadeInJapan. The level sensor is for keeping the rear up when weight is added. This was a feature with a v8 7 passenger.

Okay- we're talking about 2 different things then- part of the Nivomat rear shocks or self-leveling shocks. I have not idea then- Hopefully someone will chime in.

I have done some reading and it seems that the rear shocks may be Nivamat self leveling shocks. I saw somewhere that they sold a level sensor. That is what got me thinking about lowering. If they are Nivamats is there a way to adjust the ride hight?

I'm not sure but I'm thinking that different, shorter springs will do it- Nivomat or not. You need to ask some other XC90 AWD members to confirm this. If you get on luck here, try over on www.xc70.com I know it says it's an xc70 forum but there are many xc90 owners there in the know as well.
