Help, Advice, Owners' Discussion and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's stylish, distinctive P2 platform cars sold as model years 2001-2007 (North American market year designations).
Hi----In-laws offering 2000 Volvo V-70, 125K miles, speedo out, warning lights all come on, cruise control not functioning. Their mechanic says it's all due to a single "module"--or something--dealer quotes about 1200 bucks w/o labor. I'm a fairly good mechanic (40 years of keepin 'em going)
(1) how hard is replacement of this module-?
(2) 3d party equivalent or used module okay to insall-?
Sounds like the ABS module, but when it happened to me I don't remember if the speedometer quite like you describe. It may have but that was 2 years ago. Hopefully a member with a better memory will jump in. If it is this and I do think it is, it is VERY EASY to fix. Google:Victor Rocha, and read up on this there. He has a pretty good web sight that describes the failure of the ABS. When I did it it was only $125 and shipping. Victor has a perfect reputation on this board and others. One issue is finding the small torx screw to remove the module, and he'll sell that to you at a very fair price too!
Good Luck, please keep us informed and we'll continue to help.
