850 turbo 1994 where do these vacuum hoses go?

Post by clockwork »

Hey there,

I was going thru my engine compartment and came across two hoses that were severed. They may be part of the same hose, I do not know. The first hose is coming from the front of the engine compartment to some little doohickey behind the radiator. It was routed like it was going somewhere behind the engine but was severed about the area underneath the airbox. The second one is at the back of the engine compartment on the drivers side about halfway down and it looks like it goes into that big hose that comes off of the airbox. Please see the attached pics.

Welcome, Clock.

The one up at the front I can't speak to, but the other is one of a cluster of three next to your airbox (#25 and #16).

I think yours is (#17) the one that goes deep/back on the turbo. You may have to get under your car to get that end on.

I did 2 of these 3 last weekend. At Autozone I bought 5 feet of hose for $1/foot. Bring in yours so they can match it - I forget the diameter.

Here is a copy of the vacuum diagram , normally found under the hood near the passenger side hinge.
I must confess I do not have such a nice colourful diagram like Matt just supplied.....but look here it is for a 94 850 Turbo wagon

or the post here

Hope this helps

ok, a few more questions. where is the other end of the red hose going to? it looks like its going into the firewall but i dont see a nipple there. where is the blue hose going to? it looks like it just stops.

your diagram showed me that i completely misrouted all of my hoses. which is strange because it actually ran better. also while looking at my hoses again i noticed that there is a nipple on the underside of the main air hose right at the curve. is anything supposed to attach there?

looks like i'll be going outside again.

many thanks for your help.

Blue is the shorty and goes to big air hose. Yellow is the medium length and also is easy. The third you'll get by process of elimination ;-).

The blue hose attaches to the Turbo hose(concertina), there is a nipple near the top, underside ,as Matthew has depicted in his picture .
The other hose, look at the diagram with the numbers
http://img168.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... bo1uz6.jpg
numbers 10 and 11, this shows where it connects on the Turbo hose, on the bayonet connection, the other end goes to the "tree" on top of the throttle body.
