I even had a mechanic check it out, but I do not think he was very familiar with 850's.
Yep, most shops make their money getting cars in and out.
Poring over mysterious, hard-to-diagnose issues is not a money maker.

I had the front redone. The seats I provided failed within 5,000 miles. A local indie spotted the issue, and replaced them with a heavier, better strut seat.

In the best world, I'd do the work myself with even better parts.

Yep, I just changed the whole shebang.. belt, rollers, damper, and water pump - less than a month ago.
I have ordered the odometer gear and will pull it apart to see whats happening.

Okay, I got the General Altimax.

WOW. they are smooth and quiet tires.

So far they have been great, even in a snow storm.

MIJ, you did recommend them. I took your advice and looked on tirerack.com. After reading the reviews, I felt like it would be a good bang for the buck. I wanted to get a tire that would last a long time.

Thanks! :!:

Hey glad I did- I got confused as there have been 2 threads running concurrently about the selection of tires- Btw, I love mine too...about 2000 miles on them now and they still look new!

Folks,
Was pouring over Craigslist and came across this:
http://richmond.craigslist.org/pts/1111580900.html

In case the link doesn't work, here is the text of his ad:
For sale is a barely-used set of Dunlop SP Sport 9000 tires complete with 18" Sport Edition Tekno wheels. I took these wheels off of a 1999 Volvo Sedan when it was sold back to the dealership, and had just bought them. The wheels are great for all weather, and perform particularly well in wintry weather. I estimate that the wheels have less than 100 miles on them, and they look great. The specs for the tires are 225/40 ZR18. The Sport Edition wheels are 18x8.

My question, will these fit on a stock suspension 1999 V70 non turbo? Is there some listing of max tire/wheel sizes available out there? At $400 for new rims and tires, thats a steal, just unsure if they would fit or not. Any thoughts?

You'd want to ask the seller for which car the rims were bought.

Doesn't the S80 have a different offset?

So I am getting ready to buy a set of General Altimax tires for my 94 850. Question though, I see the recommendations for the HP as opposed to the RT, I need something with good snow traction and the RT's are the same price with e 70K warranty vs. 55K on the HP's

Anyone have experience with the RT's???

Also I read about the sizing change in mid 96 but it looked like that was for 16 inch rims. On it now the tires are 195/60/15, should I stay with 195/60 or change size, what are the alternatives and advantages?

Thanks
