I just removed my crankcase breather

...and it doesn't look like any of the pictures I've seen. It felt fairly light (read as 'not full of crud'), and not too much gunk in the engine ports, but some.

When I blow through all of the tubes, I don't notice any restriction? Is there anything more I should do?

I did notice a little oil dripping out of my intake manifold, after I tilted it up - that suprised me a bit...

Just make sure all the lines are clear- all the way to the accordion intake hose that fits on your throttle body and you're good to go.

Mine apparently doesn't have that hose. Only hoses include two that go into the block, one onto the pass side of my intake (opposite throttle body), and one to the top of the valve cover.

Any idea what that cylinder shaped appendage is on the top of my oil trap? I noticed a tiny hole at the bottom of it where oil dripped out when I blew on the hoses. I didn't see where this has been leaking onto my block.

On your last picture- the most left hose should have a larger hose connecting to it leading to the accordion intake hose.

nada. It goes directly into my intake manifold, opposite side of the TB.

Okay then....it serves the same purpose then. Just as long as all of the hoses are connected, I wouldn't know what to tell you...maybe cinch down the hose clamps or use a few plastic zip ties on each to make sure there's a good seal...if all is clear, then that's all you can do.

Hello, I'm reading any and all posts relavent to my car as I'm new to MVS. 7 months ago you removed your oil trap box and related tubing from your XC70 of 125,000 miles. What were your symptoms and did your fix work? Also what did the replacement parts cost? Any confusion when ordering? Thanks, G
