I have a 1995 850T that I inherited. It's in the process of being upgraded to virtually new specs right now. One issue is the driver's seat. The leather is scuffed, the seat bottom foam is lifeless, and the seat heater hasn't worked in years. (Much of this is due to my 240-pound father occupying the seat for much of the car's life.)
Obviously the most expensive (but easiest) way to fix the problem is to buy a new seat. Is there anywhere I can buy one without getting reamed? The dealer is certainly not an option. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Your most inexpensive option is going to be a local junk yard but depending on where you are that will be hit or miss as to whether or not they have anything better than what you have at present. Plan B is ebay but the shipping normally eats you alive for a complete seat.
I do see seat skins for sale occasionally on ebay and you can swap out the passenger's side bottom foam for the drivers seat - it is identical the skins are also the same for the bottom. The trick is to get the correct color, there are several variations of the beige leather. The interior color code is on the product plate which is mounted on the inner fender next to the battery.
The interior code colors are shown in the post as the "E" field.

My skins were OK so I just changed the foam and the heater. Here is how I did mine.

If you strike out getting the parts from ebay or locally there is always erievovo.com and there is a junk yard in Oklahoma that specializes in Volvos, I have not dealt with them but the email is [email protected] and the phone number is (405) 330-4077.
