Dear All,
I am new member on the forum.
I have just got problem on my XC90.
At first the engine seems lost its power and the leads into hard vibrations then died engine.
I try to start the engine and its back on (with Engine check light on) then it run normally. )2 days went and the light goes off.
The next day its happened again and again two times in 10 km distance.
Went to independance garage and try to diagnos the problem.
it came up
ECH-3110 (misfire cylinders) this is happened for 1,3,4,5cyl.
ECM-3100 Engine speed(RPM) sensor/misfire at least one cylinder. Faulty signal/signal too high.
ECH-120D Mass air flow(MAF) signal too low
ECH-2900 Fuel pressure too high/low.
ECH-290D Fuel pressure signal too low.
Unfortunately there are no official VOLVO garage here in Vietnam. The garage uses Autoland (scientech VaDiS) tools to scan the car.
They advice me to do following action:
1. Clean the fuel Injectors
2. Change the plugs (titanium) original.
3. Change the Fuel Filter
4. Change the Ignition Coils.
Those parts cost me about $1500 USD in total which is very expensives.
I would suspect the problems may be as simple as the dirty fuel filter (as they found the filter is very dirty)
Should I replace those parts or anybody could help me to find the reasons?
Many thanks for your kind help.
Best Rgds,
Dhimas

Try the cheaper stuff first- plugs! Use genuine Volvo plugs for your car- and clean your MAF sensor with MAF cleaner- don't touch the actual sensor- just spray it down and let it dry. Reset codes, try again and report back how it's going.

Thank you made in Japan,
I have just back from the garage and they did replaced the fuel filter, clean the injector, clean the plugs and reset the codes.
Traveled back home (20km distance) nothing happened.
Since I need to order the plugs(1 week) + cost me 110USD/pc for plugs, do you know any after market plugs which can be use for the car?
Many thanks 'n Rgds,
Dhimas

When you say, "Traveled back home (20km distance) nothing happened," do you mean the car runs fine now? If so, you don't need to do anything else.
You shouldn't need new plugs at only 22K miles. If you still want to change them, the Bosch Platinum FR7DPX is supposed to fit your car. I'd confirm that before purchasing. Personally, I prefer to use genuine Volvo plugs in my car.
Have you had the air filter replaced?

The pictures aren't very good resolution, but from what I can see the spark plugs look OK. Why did you take out the fuel injectors?
Does the missing only occur when the engine is cold?

Thanks Vegajetskier,
I have the fuel injector cleaned since i worried something is stuck in fuel delivery system.
Yes at beg i believed the plugs was fine but since this morning the problem happened again then I decided to try change
the plugs.
There is no original Volvo plugs available so after did some search from the net then i bought NGK BKR6EGP (platinum).
i am intalling the plugs now and i will report the progress.
If this doesnt help, i have no choice but to replace all the Ignition coils. Is this wise things to do? I mean since the cost of those coils are very expensive here (need to order from US and cost 100$ each)
What should i do check next after replacing these plugs? Is it MAF sensor? Where is MAF sensor located anyway? How it look like? How to clean them?
Btw, what is MAF sensor function?
Many thanks & Rgds!
