Wow, that is strange. Are you sure the coils were actually burned out and something else wasn't causing the misfire? If they were burned out, maybe it was because they were fed too much voltage. But you wouldn't think a couple volts extra would fry them. Weird.

Yes we had trouble with the alarm for sometime but with this sites help, I was able to fix that, but the battery was getting weak, but then the alternator acted up and cooked the battery! so we fixed that! put both new alternator and battery. That is when we started to have the melt down.I did not install the alternator. I bought it new with battery, but the job was too big to do in a parking lot so far from home.I had a mechanic do it. not sure but after the install of the alternator the first coil melted #1 cly I replaced that. Then we broke down again, took it to mechanic he said #3 melted,he fixed that so he could check voltage. While checking voltage 2 more burned up, so he put in the other 2 just because,so far we are running!!!! who knows, I asked the mechinic if he may have shorted something out,but they won't admit to that.I was hoping for anyone to help

I'm not sure what you want help with. If it's running good now, why not just leave it alone? You could take it to Advance Auto, Pep Boys, or Autozone and have them check the trouble codes to see if they show anything. Are you having any drivability problems now?

Right after i did a valve job on my car two of my coils burned out within a weeks time.I replaced them and its been fine ever since.A mechanic at the dealer said it could of been one of three things.Pressure getting in from the head/valve cover split/some funkey voltage spike in the system or just coincidence,i think it was the last one for me.

Replacing ground wires solved my weird voltage fluctuations. At some point in my S80's life someone drove over something really hard which just about tore out the lower/tranny ground wire (also put dent in tranny's pan making it leak). I think that stressed cable was causing an intermittent ground loop through upper/engine ground wire.

Anywho, FWIW I got mine from this guy:

He's in the military somewhere so shipping might be a little slow but quality of cables is top notch.
