I have a friend with a 2000 V70 XC wagon that has apparently given up the ghost. The car has 107K miles on it and looks good. She put a used engine in it about 12,000 miles ago, and that engine has apparently now blown. (It's beyond my understanding how this could have happened so quickly, but it is what it is.) The car's body panels and interior are all in good condition, it has a new fuel pump and new alternator, and pretty much everything except the engine is sound. The transaxle appears to operate just fine. In short, there are a lot of good parts on the car if you can overlook the engine.
I'm posting this here to see if someone with a similar car wants a parts car, or if anyone knows of an appropriate place for her to sell the car for a halfway fair price. (The local salvage yard offered her $600 for it, which is kind of tough to swallow after just doing $1500+ worth of repairs.) The car is located in Durham, North Carolina. Chances are, any marginally reasonable offer would be accepted.
I should add that I have no part in this deal; since I'm already a member of this site, it seemed like a good place to post the question. (I'll stick with my immaculate 850 turbo, thanks.)
Any ideas much appreciated.
