oil trap

I hear more and more about replacement costs of this part. What can be done to avoid needing to replace this?
Are there maint. that can aviod problems here.
Where is this located.

I hear they get clogged with oil slug. To avoid this change oil regularly and using a synthetic should also help.

You want to prevent clogging because it's located under your intake manifold- the manifold has to come off (along with your injectors) to even get to it.

That's what I do... I switch to 10W30 during the summer months.
