Service Engine Lite goes ON and then OFF

My service engine lite went on; then shut off after I put gasoline in it; it then went on and then went off some miles later. I did have it read and it was an 0422 (cat. converter); I'm really not sure that that is what it is. I have switched to premium gas and the light has stayed off. Is that a coincidence or would the gasoline octane make a difference. I've heard all kinds of stories on the different grades of gas and the effect that they have on the cat.converters. Any ideas out there????

What type of car is this for? Turbo or N/A?

The dealer told me that not replacing the gas cap properly will trigger the "Check Engine" lamp. Might want to check that out (with gas prices being what they are)!!
