From a post in the 850 Forum:
It's finally fixed!!!!
5 1/2 months later--just as we were about to junk the car--Ben's Volvo in Libertyville found the problem and fixed the car. It wasn't the crank shaft sensor, but the wiring leading to the sensor.
I was suspicious it was in the wiring all along, but could never get anyone to search carefully enough to find it. Thank you BEN'S VOLVO. We wouldn't have known about him, but had to buy another car to replace this one, and the person who sold us the car told us about this place. It was worth the trip.
Thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions. I'll come again next time we're stumped.
Praise for Ben's Volvo in Chicagoland
