Rough idling and radio code

Post by daved61 »

Hi all, recently purchased a 1994 850 wagon, couple of day a go parking lights were left on drianing the battery, charged the battey, car now has 2 problems, 1-radio is looking for a code I do not have and 2-car started after charging battery, however idling very rough step on gas car stalls now, any thoughs would be helpful.

Thanks

You can take the radio out by pushing IN on the 2 tabs on the side of the front of the radio and then they pop out. Grab those two tabs and the radio just pulls out (UNPLUG THE WIRES IN THE BACK). Call up the Volvo dealer and tell them the numbers on the radio and they can tell you the code.
I am wondering if your idling issue is from the dead battery. You computer may need to just re adjust once running some.

Can't you just give the vin # to get the radio code? That's all I need for my '98 - and just go to the local volvo dealer who gives it to me foc. (It's now written inside the glove box.)

The man at the Volvo dealer told me he would rather have the numbers on the radio when I had to retrieve mine. Also, if the radio is not the original from that car than the vin # wouldn't be the same as the original radio installed.

You might also look for a 4 digit number written with a Sharpie on the top of the radio, I do it with all of mine since I don't think any of my radios are original to the cars.
