S70 shifter knob removal,(manual stick)

Post by Ragman »

How does one remove the shifter knob from a 98 S70 manual shifter without destroying it? I need to replace the ball cup on the shifter base. Thanks for the input.

MadeInJapan;
Do you have the instructions on how to remove the manual shift knob and leather boot? My boot is torn and needs replacement, even if i decide an aftermarket one.
Thanks.

Juan62,
Mine is a 1994, 850. On that, the Knob simply pulls out but must be yanked pretty hard. Once that's done, you pull up boot the same way after releasing its bottom frame from the place where it fits on the console. (Matt01 has pictures of it) There are clips inside both the knob and the boot top but they're tension clips and don't need to be cut or anything (if it's like my 850).
