If I replace the little battery in my remote door unlock key fob, will I need to reprogram it to work again or is this stored in a non-volitle memory chip? Also, I only have one of these, if I buy one off ebay as a spare will I be able to use both? Thanks...
It's a '93 850glt btw

Well, I got a new battery, did the reprogramming thing in the parking lot at Radio Shack and nothing. I gave up, went to AutoZone to get a new headlight bulb and locked the door with the key. When I came back out, I tried the remote and it worked fine.
Is this an added step for certain model 850's? Do I need to do the key to start 5-times within 10-second thing and then lock the doors manually?
Jot: I can't read the damn numbers on the back of this thing - I think I need a microscope they are do small! I'll get back to you on that...

Off - On 5 times leave it in the on position. It's better to do it at night or somewhere dim cuz you'll see the led at the top of the dash light up. For the key fob you just need to know if the buttons are side-by-side or stacked on top of each other.

That's exactly what I did, but it didn't work until I locked the doors with the key. They are side-by-side.Guest wrote:Off - On 5 times leave it in the on position.
