Auto-close window....and then opens again by itself!

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Auto-close window....and then opens again by itself!

Post by JSACKS »

I recently bought a 3-year old S80 in generally excellent condition. However, I observe that when I use the auto-close function for either of the front windows, the window often closes normally but then instantly goes down again all the way. It seems entirely random and I am baffled by this. Is there a glitch in the relay or something like that? Appreciate any advice, thanks.

I'm thinking it's a sensitivity setting- maybe the dealer can adjust it as I think it's by software only. Our V70 front windows are made to do this if a small child's arm, etc. gets in the way of it closing- it's a safety feature- but apparently yours is set to a too sensitive setting.

Is there anyway to find out if this author ever got to the bottom of his autoclose issue? Mine needs the same illusive solution.

No, I haven't yet gone to the VOLVO dealer for my service interval. I figured it could wait till then since it's not a critical or safety item for me. I don't think this will be happening for another month or two as I am busted with car expenses for the year and we're only half way done!
