Lee, I chose Debian. It was nearly a pure guess which to choose based on my experience building web servers, but Debian came up as being a little similar to CentOS, which I was mildly familiar with.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

Forever is a kind word.
Matt, the site just does not load.
It takes nearly a minute to load (IE Firefox, Any way you try, it doesn't matter)!
In case you forgot we're way into the 21st century and almost everyone has braodband, this site's pages load like a dial up, actually worse!

You guys are good. Was about to rip U on this sites load time.

Nothing's been done yet. The current host contacted me on Friday saying I can move up to my own hardware at the same data center, for the same price. We're in discussions currently on just how to do that, so my plans to move to the new Debian host I mentioned above are on hold while we figure this out. Either way, it shouldn't be more than a week.

Thanks for your patience, guys.

I run Ubuntu for a desktop / work station, however I recommend CentOS for a web server.

As it's obviously not coal, what is the fuel source that heats up the steam for your computer?

I thought everything depended on coal up Durham way.
Not wanting to hijack Matt's thread, a quick answer. Two hamsters in a wheel attached to a generator giving (just) enough power to heat the water.

Unfortunately, coal production in the UK is now only in the odd drift mine or opencast. All deep mine production has stopped.

Thank you Matthew. I love your site but the slowness can sometimes be overwhelming.

Matt,
It's only helped a teenie bit.
Before (on IE NOT AOL) it could take up to over a minute (if at all) to load a single page, now it still takes 10-40 seconds, (per page, I'm timing it)!

Using AOL it would NEVER load, period!

On the lower left if you look at the page status, as it's loading it says "errors on page" (all pages).

It finally does load, but you STILL have multiple issues.
SS, V70R and XC.com load their pages from 1 second to 4 seconds MAX, this is absurd!

I don't think Matt has switched over to the new hardware yet m8

I'm sure we'll be the first to know when he does get over to the sleek new box :D
