C70 Convertible 2003 after market stereo

Post by jfswanny »

Is there anyone out there who has replaced the head unit? I'm looking to upgrade the sound a bit, be able to connect an MP3 player and play recorded CD's. I have the 10 speaker system that comes with the HP C70, no surround sound speaker in the dash.

Check out crutchfields.com Put in your car and model year and see what their search pulls up for you. I think you'll still need a special harness- not sure if they sell it for your particular car or not.

Thanks Made in Japan, I did that and even called Crutchfield but they don't offer anything that they will stand behind for the C70. This is my second C70. On my first one, I had a shop convert the stereo, they had to redo the whole system. The only thing they used from the factory setup was the speakers. The new stereo sounded great, but it was expensive. I was looking for a less expensive option, but it looks like that is the only route.

Just completed the stereo overhaul. replaced head unit and volvo amp with two new amps and a Kenwood head unit. Doubled to power and now have USB, aux in etc. The only Volvo audio equipment I used was the speakers and they sound great with the new stuff.

Shame you went to all that trouble. You can get a stereo that fits in and only requires a small mod with the wiring harness. A local ICE shop did mine for a very reasonable price and I had a Sevic Blue laser unit fitted.
Still uses all the old wiring amps and speakers. It too sounds good.
Too late for advice I know but it might help someone else. :|
