First, I'd like to thank everyone for all the information available on this site, for a forced do-it-yourselfer it has been indispensible.
My current problem is that the car is surging/revving while in idle in park, reverse or drive. When I'm slowing down or sitting at a light it sometimes feels as if it will cut out and in a couple of cases it has. When I'm watching the tac it's idling at about 800rpm and will rev up as high as 1200, while this is happening the lights will dim and brighten in concert.
The check engine light came on this morning, it has not come on previously...we have not been driving the car since this revving first occurred, but I've been trying to diagnose the problem for a few weeks now.
Today I unplugged the electrical connector going into the hose coming out of the air filter box and the car idled smooth.
Reading all the posts about ETM they all seem centered around 2001 and older, and the diagrams all seem to be from that era of car. Does the 2002 v-70 have the same issue regarding the ETM... What should I be looking for next?
I'm also having trouble with my back-up volvo a 1990 240 wagon, between the 2 right now I'm a little flustered.
