Rear Window brake light cover 1995 940

Post by okeetee »

Besides the dealer, what options do I have to find the rear window brake light cover/case that covers the rear window brake light on my 1995 940 Volvo sedan?

EBay certainly is a good resource and a plastic trim piece like you are describing is a pretty safe bet for online purchase. I like my local salvage yard which charges a $2.00 entry fee to keep out the riff - raff and has a published price list. A good salvage yard will have a "Foreign Car Section" maybe even a "Volvo Section" which makes the part hunt easier. Good Luck!

...I've searched over the internet for volvo parts but there doesn't seem to be anyone that can provide me with this particular piece on line. We don't have too many salvage yards in my area, and they probably wouldn't have this particular piece anyway. I may just have to bite the bullet on this one and pay the dealer the $40 bucks he wants for it! But thanks for your suggestion!

Have you tried erievovo?

Apparently they respond quicker to telephone calls than emails.

...thanks for the link! I sent them an e-mail message and then looked on their site. But from checking some of their prices...they may be more expensive than the DEALER....and I didn't think that was possible!

My best suggestion for internet search would be to try and find someone who is "parting out" your particular model car. Good Luck.

Also check out http://www.MySwedishParts.com

Had a very good experience with these guys, got my coded ignition barrel for 1/2 of what the local dealer wanted and MVS members get a 5% discount as indicated by the banner at the top of the page. I believe you have to register on the site to send an e-mail, but definitely check them out!

billofdurham's link to erievolvo solved my problem and saved me $15 bucks! They had the item in stock and sold it to me for $25 bucks, shipping included! The Volvo dealer over here is pathetic....I don't like dealing with them and they usually charge twice what you can get it for on line! Thanks guys!

Glad to be of help.

I have never used erievovo as they are on the wrong side of the pond but I know that MadeInJapan recommends them and that is good enough for me to pass on their name.

....well, the guy I spoke to on the phone was very kind, helpful and concerned with my problem. The clowns over at Carolina Volvo in Bluffton, S.C. (just outside of Hilton Head) have a "could careless" attitude and are always trying to rip you off! You want a "horror" story? I can give you a good one!
