98 v70xc vibration and low rumble

Only when its raining and going up hill with the eng under load, doesn't need to be steep,I get a slight vibration and low rumble from the front of the car.Could be eng,could be drive train.It has no associated odor,I don't notice any power loss from the eng no hesitation or stumble .I don't believe its a slipping belt.when it starts to happen if I get on the gas or get off the gas it stops.Why only in the rain going up hill?Any and all suggestions are welcome,Thank you.

Hi, are you driving with the windows open or closed when you hear the noise? You may just be hearing the hum of the engine increasing under load as it pulls the car up hill, totally normal. You wouldn't notice this subtle change over the wind noise when the windows are down. As far as the vibration, you might take a look at the motor mounts for damage.

Its not the increase in load going up hill,the sound is much more pronounced than that,and it goes away if I increase or decrease power.Its just in one power band and only on rainy days uphill? someone suggested its the tracs kicking in I'm going to try that,but because it only happens on rainy days I may have to wait awhile,sunny and 70's this week.I'll post if I ever get this figured out.Thanks

It does have something to do with the drive train, that much I am sure. I would turn off the tracs first and if you are still getting the noise, then you should look into the mounts and axles in the drive train. Make sure they are all in good shape.
