S90 1997 Fan starts when car starts
S90 1997 Fan starts when car starts
fan starts and runs continuesly during operation of car. Fan continues to run for 5 minutes after engine is turned off then shuts off. Also temp guage jumps to 1/2 and fluctuates. Error code says eng temp LOW INPUT,PO117. What sensor may need to be replaced? and where is it located? PO410 is problem # two, Secondary air flow input. Is there a sensor to the air pump that would need changing?

I moved you to the appropriate forum where you should be able to get more appropriate advice.
On an 850 I would say that you have a bad ECT sensor or a bad connection to it. On a S90 I'm not sure.

P0117 is usually the engine coolant temperature sensor. It is mounted on the thermostat housing.
P0412, Volvo code 442, is a little harder to diagnose as it covers four different faults in the pulsed secondary air injection (PAIR) system. Checking the system with a Volvo scan tool would show a second fault code of either 446 or 448. The secondary code points directly to the problem. There is no sensor in the system but there is a solenoid which would not throw any of these three codes.
The attachment shows what tests can be done but you will be hindered by not knowing the secondary code:
Bill.
