AC and heater not working

Post by gtg737m »

Hello everyone. Yesterday my AC and heater stopped working, the system is not blowing any air. I noticed that when I turn on the blower to either use the AC or the heater the orange lights for the AC and rec start flashing for some time and then they stay on as normal. I noticed a clicking sound when I turn on the blower. Could this mean that a relay or the blower are bad. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What year is the car? The fixes are mostly the same but the diagnostics vary depending on the year.

Pull the codes from port B-1 and post them back. If you get a whole gob of them clear the codes and then see which codes come back.

4-1-4 code: Driver's side Temp. sensor intake fan seized. Is it an easy fix? Thanks.

just going back to the basics. if you fan doesn't work at all, seems more mechanical/electrical than what climate control codes would imply. i may be wrong but for me id start with checking fuse to the heather fan. if its fine. check for power/ ground at the motor itself.

It's behind the little grill near the drivers side
"OMFG, I drive so crazy that I need to hold on!" grab bar.
If that little tiny fan motor that sucks cabin air in past the
driver's interior temp sensor is toast, you'll need a new one.

I was really expecting some other codes that point to the power stage or the blower. The temp sensor fan doesn't really impact the main cabin blower unless you are in the Auto mode.

With no codes to work from you will need to work your way through the blower circuit backwards. Start at the blower and ground the blue wire. If the blower is good it should come on full blast. If it doesn't come on the the blower is bad or the connections inside of the blower housing are bad.

If the blower itself works then it points to a bad power stage (blower resistor). A bad power stage will normally set an error code though.

Thanks for the help guys. The power stage for the AC fan was bad, I replaced it and now I have AC. Thanks.
