Check for codes in port A-6. Some of the cars have a 2 ECU setup.

Checked port A6 and got code 411.

"Throttle Switch Signal From Fuel Injection Absent Or Faulty" or "TP sensor signal" is that right and if so now what?

My local shop has been great in that they let me use their tools (my ex got mine in the divorce" so if this is something I can fix myself I'm all about it. Thanks for all your help so far.

It is fairly straightforward, it just bolts onto the bottom of the throttle body with a couple of bolts. It is also a great time to clean the throttle body itself with throttle body cleaner or carb cleaner. You should pick up a throttle body gasket along with your Throttle Position Sensor.

if i may add a tip...

buy a bosch unit they are arounf $ 50 in multiple online stores...i personaly w ont go with aftermarket parts in electronics for these volvo's..
and keep in mind the bolts that hold the throttle body are aluminium ...d ont tighten too much .... and carefully insert them in the threads to avoid cross threading...

cheers !

That is a tough question. The term Aftermarket is normally a way for the vendors to hide the fact that it is really Scan Tech which is universally known as being garbage. Garbage sells better if it isn't labeled Scan Tech.

In some cases I have picked up aftermarket parts that are really OEM in a different box. The PNP switch that Autozone used to sell was OEM under a different label. Unless you can look at the part you never know and even after looking at it you may not know as it may be counterfeit.

Try Darrell Waltrip Volvo and get a price for an OEM, (800) 689-0021 ask for Jamie or Don, they often have Blue Box Volvo parts for the same price as "aftermarket".

If you're going to the trouble of pulling the throttle body, I strongly recommend replacing the original throttle plate with a 960 throttle plate. Order the screws and a throttle body gasket at the same time. It's an easy, inexpensive mod that provides a little more throttle response. Someone posted the part numbers a few months ago.
