I'm in the process of replacing the ball joints and was wondering if there are any aftermarket ball joint I should be looking at. I found on Ebay several seller but they look to cheap(price) to be any good. I found a couple of other brands APA/URO and Deeza. Apparently, the Deeza are the premium quality but not sure.
Can anyone recommend which ones I should buy?
Thanks,

All aftermarkets on the ball joints seem to fail- stay with OEM. You might try calling Darrel Waltrip Volvo in Franklin, TN- they usually have the best deals on genuine Volvo parts- ask for Don and tell him you're on this forum.

I'm also in the process of replacing the front lower ball joints on my 2004 XC90. Does anyone have instructions for performing this operation? How do you separate the ball joint from the bottom of the steering knuckle? I took the big nut off the ball joint and then the two retaining bolts and everything is stuck together tight! Any other car I've done this to has merely required a few wacks from a big hammer. Do I need to detach the steering knuckle from the strut body and then pry the ball joint out? I am hoping the ball joint isn't pressed into the steering knuckle. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hello, could you please let me know why are you replacing the ball joints and how many miles or kms does your XC90 has?
Thanks!
They are pressed in. I used a metal wedge and hammer, really had to get medieval with it. I had the entire part off, doing it on the car may be very hard. Getting the new ones back on is also going to be a pain. I ended up taking it to a shop where they removed the rubber boot and fitted a large socket over it so it could be pounded in. Gave the guy a $10 and we both were happy.
