How many of you have done this?

I am thinking about tightening it about two turns.

I did that on my 940 and it made a nice difference. I would not go more then 2 turns because you run the risk of the wastegate not opening enough.

^^^ This would make the boost lower. He wants to up the boost so he should tighten it.

Hey, I went and adjusted my waste-gate actuator and realized I only did two half turns instead of full turns  , does the safe parameters of this mod mean turn the flat wings on the adjustment piece over twice or 4 times to make 2 full turns :?: Just a bit confused. Thanks

Turning it 4 half turns would equal 2 full turns. So yes, you need to turn it 2 more half turns. Unless you are at the boost level that you want to be at.

I do this on almost all my Volvo turbos
the 4.4 Motronics (94-98) can handle up to 3+ turns but you don't want to do that. You will actually get too much boost almost off the lnie andin bad weather can be a bit scary.
I would say your 2 turns is ENOUGH
The ME-7 cars usually take less, up to one turn, sometimes only a 1/2 turn.
Without a boost gausg and the "correct" method, it's a guess. Do a 1/2 turn at a time, especially after the first turn. You will be able to tell the difference.
If you go too far, your mileage will really suffer plus you really won't enjoy more benefits from over tightening.
Im me with any questions, I suppose I've done more of these than anyone with all kinds of Volvo turbos

Are there any tutorials on doing this? I am not very familiar with turbos, a picture and explanation would be nice for many on this site. I have always wanted a little more juice off the line, I raced a Prius at 9000 feet and he beat me off the line for a short distance! I found my turbo took longer to produce 15 PSI boost at this altitude.

first have a boost gauge installed. factory is not good enough. boost cut with factory ecu is 15 or 15.5 psi. dont do more then 2 turns at a time. 12 - 13psi is safe for stock. be carefull not to boost more then 10psi lower then 3k rpms. bend rods low rpms.

Is this only good for the high boost models or would this also work on a '98 V70 XC?
