240, 1991, rattle
I'm new to the forum, so any help is appreciated. There's this awful rattling coming from underneath the car. It only happens at certain RPMs (I don't have a tachometer, so I can't tell exactly which). My father--a DIY Volvo repairman for decades--said it was the heat shield. I went under, ripped it out, but still have the rattle. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
A rattling heat shield is the most likely culprit and there is more than one. Next would be a loose baffle in one of the silencers. Last, and probably most expensive, the inside of the catalytic converter may have come adrift.
Bill.
