In my large, squarish state, when you buy a car and buy new license plates, they may ask if it has four wheels, then they'll take your money. Every year after that, you get a postcard reminder in the mail to renew. You send in your money and get a sticker in the mail. That is the extent of your dialog with the State.

In MA also you can not lift your XC70 higher than 2" (there's a formula).
