All that heat paid off or the sensor was never really stuck. The sensor unscrewed with reasonable torque. I used a Lisle 12390 oxygen sensor socket. It has a 1/2" drive hole on its end for breaker bars and a 3/8" drive hole on one face for ratchets. I worked from below the car, using the breaker to get it started with a tiny amount of swing room. Once it moved, a 3/8" ratchet let me do 1/4 rotation before repositioning the offset socket.
I swapped in the newer used sensor with no crush washer. At idle, I didn't hear any gas escaping but I think I felt it with my hand around the sensor. I'll be hunting for a 0.7" ID crush washer to fit the sensor.
Thanks again for all of your help.
