oops i didnt update that. i drive a 2006 xc70 that i bought at an auction 2 days after the accident. (in hopes of using it to fix mine) no mechanic would even consider fixing it, so i ended up using the wrecked one to fix the auction one.

Angle gear and drive shaft. If the engine and transmission are known good, you could harvest those as well.

My cutoff for "new part or used part" generally is somewhere between $250 and $500... If I'm replacing something and it's available for $100 or something, I'm just going to put in a new part rather than risk having to do it all over again with a used part.

However, drive shafts are >$500 even used or aftermarket, and the angle gears are getting hard to come by and it's down to either racing to the pull-a-part and fighting someone when a new Volvo comes into the yard or paying $700+ for a used one from a used parts source or eBay. So it's a worthy pull and keep if you have the ability.
