It is always good to get a real life opinion on these issues, so thank you for sharing. My friend with the 190,000 mile 2013 XC60 T6 says it still runs strong and hard. On the other hand his 235k mile 03 XC70 burns about a liter of oil between oil changes. Mind you I think the oil changes may be random or 'extended'. Our 06 XC70 burns about maybe half that between 5k services if that with 125k miles.
I know the early engines in an XC60 were prone to seizing. Only issue is I can't recall now if it was the 3.0 or 3.2. I thought it was the 3.2 but I'm probably wrong!
Again, thanks for the input. My only other real life experiences of those 2 engines was test driving an 08 XC70 with the 3.2. It was a real slug compared to the 06 XC70 so we bought that instead. Gas mileage was also poor in spite of supposedly more power.
Also drive a 2012 XC70 T6 for a few days as a loner from the dealer when the car was nearly new. That was a nice powerful car.
Neil.
