Does anyone elses XC70 mirrors rattle like crazy?
My right side mirror did rattle. When I decided to replace the puddle light bulbs I found that bulb was out of its socket and rattling & rolling around.

Both have puddle lights (were they available on 02 cars? They also look like they may have the outside temperature sensors built in and those were used on the 03- cars where the MAP and intake temperature sensors were removed from the intercooler to throttle body pipe.

Thanks,

Neil.
Hello Neil,
That mirror is identical to the ones on my 2002 v70xc, puddle lamps & temperature sensors,

Is the rattle in the glass or black housing. Makes a difference on a potential repair. For our 08 C30 it was just the glass delaminating from the glass mount. Son actually drove back and found it but unfortunately it had broken. An eBay glass did the trick. Some additional silicone adhesive in addition to the tape that came with it for good measure.

Recently removed a floppy 01 Sienna passenger side mirror housing. Destroyed it taking it apart to see how it’s made. Would have been a feat to repair so just much easier to replace. Regardless, it was a very bad design waiting to fail.
.

The part number on the case for the LH mirror is meaningless as I can't find that number listed.

However, taking a picture of the plastic casing on the underside, all the information molded into the casing is identical to our 06 XC70.

I think I will have to go to the junkyard just to see if any of the mirrors there (only 2002 and 2004 in the yards currently) match up. Still not sure of the RHS one. I cannot find a match to it. It has a much thicker stalk on the mirror assembly. Our 06 has the flip in mirrors and both look identical.

Hm...........
