Ok, the 5 minute fix is done. Any change with the image? You can go back to the post in this thread to check, or just click on the actual image: download/file.php?mode=view&id=50200

My next step is to disable the CF cache altogether, and either leave things like that or work backward from there until things break again, and I'll know at what point in the matrix the problem occurs.

Absolutely none. I even cleared my own cache. I think the problem is in the board forum itself.
When i try to direct open it download/file.php?mode=view&id=50200 it says the attachment doesn't exist.

You guys are correct. Thanks for your help.
I did some looking and the photos are in the directory where they should be, the attachment db table does have the correct associations, but there's something else that is breaking the chain between the photo existing in the proper directory and end users' browsers. From what I can tell it's not widespread, but rather it is limited to a time period, and maybe even just that original post.
I'll fix those dozen or so photos and forget about it unless/until it comes up again. The crazy bit is those images are in my browser's cache, yet I didn't use this browser until years after that post. So at some point since 2023-ish they were working, but today they don't. If I was the Can't Sleep At Night Until I Know The Root Cause type, I'd figure this out. I'd certainly figure it out if it was widespread beyond that post.
Please let me know if you also get 404 images outside of that series of photos (2019).
