Excellent, thanks MIJ I was looking at the array of "recommended" plugs that are supposedly OEM plugs i.e. the same plugs as the dealership would sell but just not branded Volvo - Dealership want $53.37+tax for a set of 5, but now I have the part number I can shop around.
Thanks again !

SAL, be aware that these are not equivalent to the OEM plugs- just that a lot of people say they work as good as the OEM's. However, they being copper, if you hit your turbo often you'll be changing them more often. That's not too bad for plugs that cost just over a dollar at many auto parts stores.

Hmm, the AutoLites I have in right now are single platinum, I would like to put decent plugs in that are hard wearing if I am going to replace the AutoLites, which were actually about $6.00 each if I recall. Do we know what the OEM plug is - make and part # or is that closely guarded secret by Volvo and only available from the dealer ( The did tell me they were made by Bosch?). Appears the Volvo plugs are a platinum with copper core (single platinum)
Interesting to note that some companies claim a number of different plugs as OEM as below - surely all these can't have been fitted to our 850Ts over the lifetime of the model?. My understanding was OEM meant the Original Equipment Manufacturer that made the part for the car company, and its the same part just with the OEM badge instead of the manufacturer (Volvo) badge. I did find FCP Groton to seemingly be the closest to the "recommendation" with only 2 types the copper FR7DC and a Volvo (bosch?) plug. The Volvospeed forum seems to bear this out with a few deviations to the NGKs: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/lofivers ... 80615.html
I think all-in-all I have just convinced myself writing this that the Bosch FR7DC are the way to go initially to see the difference and a cheap test and go with the Volvos if you want somehting more hard wearing, which I may need at 500 miles a week. But of course that is what you were trying to tell me all along right MIJ !

My understanding too is that Bosch makes the plugs for Volvo but doesn't have a generic plug that's exactly like the Volvo plug. The difference is that the Volvo plug comes to a point where as the Bosch plugs are flat on top with no point. Btw, people have had issue with the double plat. Bosch plugs in their Volvo's so I would stick with either the Bosch coppers or get the Volvo plugs for the next change. both groton and eeuroparts has good prices over the dealer.

I ordered the FR7DC but what came were FR7DC+. Noone could tell me at the shop what the difference was, if any. Looking around I couldn't find anything on differences between the DC and DC+ but did find this handy Bosch plug guide, which seems to suggest the + is just the new version with some new electrode metal beginning with Y, there seems to be no plain FR7DC anymore?

Try them and see...they've got to be better than what you have in there.
Btw, I looked too and couldn't find the "new and improved" version of this plug, or at least anyone saying anything about them.
